Microsoft’s new app helps blind people “see” the world around them

Living with visual impairments may be about to become considerably easier thanks to new software developed by Microsoft.

This is Seeing AI, a mobile app recently launched by the company that uses the camera of their smartphone to identify and describe everything around them – whether they are people, scenery, objects or even texts.

Using the tool is a fairly simple task, if the user points the device to the direction you want. From this, the artificial intelligence of the program describes what it recognizes; with sufficient accuracy even to describe a person’s facial features; estimate their age or tell if it is any of their friends, for example.

Those who are interested in the App Store. Unfortunately; the company has not given any indication that the tool can reach Android, so a good number of platform users will have to cross their fingers and wait patiently.
